TRUMPF: Laser beam shaping – The future of ultra fast lasers

Further information: Ultra fast lasers enable beam shaping processes that are realized through computer holography. This entails glass cutting in a single pass process as well as shaping the cut edges in a way that protects it from cracking. This is, among other things, useful for smartphone displays and an enabler for scaling the average power and troughput of these lasers. Since beam shaping is also a necessary requirement for laser induced secondary radiation, the future could hold the possibility of one day having high quality x-rays without blurriness.
