Bosch Sensortec and TRUMPF have jointly developed the BMV080 PM2.5 sensor. The world's smallest particulate matter sensor is based on VCSEL technology. The sensor is noiseless and maintenance-free and is perfectly suited for IoT applications. It measures particulate matter with highly accurate and in real time.

VCSELs with integrated photodiode (ViP) measure the particles in the air and simultaneously enable the evaluation of the data. The VCSELs can also be located behind glass or displays.
VCSELs are small, robust light sources that are insensitive to other light sources such as sunlight and function reliably and with high accuracy.
