Hard shell, hard core!
It´s the internal hardness that counts.
Through the development of plasma-nitrided welding tables, we were able to protect the table from scratches, welding spatter and rust. But only with the use of hardened tool steel, we have achieved a high impact strength.
If a welding table of plasma-nitrided fine-grain sheet is damaged, the damage can only be removed by grinding, which leads to the destruction of the surface hardening. A welding table made of hardened tool steel, usually gets
no damage. If grinding is still necessary, the hardness wouldn´t change substantially.
