Tacking 0.5 mm thin stainless steel

Tack welding is one of the most important work phases before welding. In tacking, the structural parts are combined with short tack welds in preparation for the actual welding. The tack welds keep the parts in the correct position in relation to each other until the welding has been done. The quality of tack welding directly affects the quality of the welding. Tacking 0.5 mm thin stainless steel (316L) hasn't been this easy as it is with our MicroTack. With the Pyrex cup, you can see through it while tacking, which also enables this technique where the electrode (1.6 mm grey) is installed so that it won’t come out of the cup and the cup is pressed against the workpiece. • Joint type: Butt joint • Welding position: PA • Distance of electrode: 1.0 mm • Grind angle: 55° • Welding current: 230 A • MicroTack spot count: 1 • MicroTack spot time: 10 ms • Shielding gas type and flow: Argon 3.5 l/min Read more about MicroTack: https://weldingvalue.com/2019/06/microtack-revolutionizes-tack-welding/
