How does Kemppi Touch Sense Ignition (TSI) work

Welding starts with the filler wire moving towards the workpiece and igniting the arc at first contact. When the TSI function is active, the filler wire retracts when touching the workpiece and starts a pilot arc with a very low current before the actual welding arc starts. This guarantees a smooth ignition in varying circumstances, reducing spatter and the time needed for post-weld cleaning. With TSI you can start welding with the filler wire already in contact with the workpiece. This enables aligning the filler wire exactly to the correct starting position. Kemppi's X5 FastMig senses if the welding arc is ignited with the filler wire touching the workpiece and activates the TSI routine automatically.
