Cold forming SOLID Materials
The GROB cold forming process is based on a straightforward and universally applicable principle: the total forming effort needed is broken down into numerous forming increments spread along the entire cylindrical length of the zone being formed.
Benefits
- Very short forming cycles
- Affordable tooling costs
- Superior spline and gear quality
- Surface work-hardening
- Ability to form high-strength steels
- Surface finish Ra 0.4
- No disruption of material grain flow
This subdivision means that the forces needed to achieve superior forming rates and high degrees of deformation are relatively low, allowing ready-to-install precision spline geometries to be produced.
In principle, all popular splined shaft profiles defined by well-established standards can be generated. Beyond those standards, virtually any desired spline geometry (involutes, arched profiles, straight profile, buttress tooth profiles, and profiles with undercuts, …) with even or uneven numbers of teeth can be produced.
