AUDI sees several benefits during laser beam remote welding of aluminum by using the process monitoring system WeldMaster Scan&Track. The usage of high-strength steels, weight saving aluminum alloys and innovative joining technologies or unusual material mixes - all lead to the overall objective to make vehicles ultimately safer and more efficient. Nowadays process monitoring systems play an important role to ensure both process stability and quality. The traditional model of process monitoring and control is dived into pre-, in-, and post-process applications. The WeldMaster plattform merges all the different process steps. Online seam finding and seam inspection during the laser welding process by laser triangulation can be realized by one camera.
