ViP stands for VCSEL with integrated Photodiode. The ViP technology platforms is suitable for applications ranging from speed and distance measurement in industrial production lines to eye-tracking in VR goggles. By integrating a photodiode directly into the VCSEL, reflective signals of the infrared laser light can be picked up by the light source itself for further processing. This also results in miniaturization of the single components. The ViP technology platform is the key enabler for the self-mixing interference (SMI) technology to enable the further processing of reflected light signals.
