VCSEL Insights: Speed and distance measurement with SICK SPEETEC

VCSEL as light source for speed and distance measurement no matter on which surface you want to track. Together with SICK, TRUMPF developed the SPEETEC optical sensor for industrial applications. The SPEETEC allows contactless, high accuracy directional speed, length and distance measurement, without causing any surface wear out. The solution is based on the VCSEL with integrated photodiode, short ViP. The VCSEL design enables the measurement method, called self-mixing interference (SMI).
